Lady Illinois Pocket Watch Assistance, learning curve to see if I am learning.

    Illinois Pocket Watch, size 17

Case, has screw down crystal front, and screw down back.

Painted Metal Dial with Arabic Numerals, in what appears to be Radium painted numerals, it no longer emits any lume.

Cathedral Hands, filled with lume, possibly Radium.

Crown and Winding Stem at 3 O’clock

Back inside of screw down case has B&B (Bates & Bacon) ROYAL 20 YEARS, I take this is a gold-filled case (10KT?). The Serial Number, 6150688

The Serial Number 6150688, should date this watch to after 1948, after the company was sold to Hamilton.

Movement is Maker Marked Illinois Lady Stewart 17 Jewels. The Movement Number is 3103901 (could this be the Serial Number). The movement is Engine Turned.

This is a Lever Action Escapement Movement Correct?

Please tell me all that I missed…I am still learning! LOL!

    Thanks in advance,

    John

There was no size 17, went from 16 to 18. I'm having a hard time identifiying the particular movement, but there was an 11j Stewart at size 18. The serial dates it at 1917.

    Watch-sizes were in even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24), not odd numbers. So yeah...no size 17.

    Hey Guys,

I am sorry to confuse you on the case size…I misread the size chart in the book, and thought that was for the case, and it turns out to be the movement size!

The actual size of the case is 44.13MM…

SkooterNB, thanks for dating it for me!

    Regards,

    John

Dial Plate is 26.34MM, so this would make it a size 5/0 case correct?
