    Well that is nice.

I like the blue date numbers, and also the mixture of arabic numbers, circles, and leaf shapes for the hours. Lovely condition. Congratulations.

Thanks Marrick. The dial is in pristine condition. There is no fading or patina anywhere. The only way to tell watch is old is from the lume that has faded away on the markers.

They are, but I believe I have found my grail. A 1942 IWC Portuguese with the calibre 74 movement. I think that is my watch purchase to end all other purchases.

Considering the 2nd hit when I googled that sold for US$70,000 at Christies, all I can say is, outa my league by about $69,000 . If I bought a watch like that, it would also be the last watch I ever bought - and I would only own it for about 2mins before it got sold in the divorce, really.

I think my fiancee may also kill me if I purchase that watch. The one I saw in one of my vintage catalogs was much less. I better check the date on that book I was reading.

Probably a similar 'generic style' crown as my Britix, which has the same movement, similar period, and what looks like much the same case.
