Lemania and Heuer - what's the association?

Hi all, at some point three seems to be an association between Lemania and Heuer. I've noticed that in their stopwatches but it's probably extended to other products. Was Lemania a movement maker?

Besides a small Wikipedia" ref ("In the mid-1970s, Heuer introduced a series of chronographs powered by the Lemania 5100 movement"), can someone help out and provide some links to some reading material on this subject please.
    Thank you very much.

Re: Lemania and Heuer - what's the association?

Lemania was a manufacturer of generic movements- though there are Lemania-signed pieces dating to the mid and late 1970s. The two major brands that they have supplied were Omega and Tissot, the founding companies of the SSIH (later known as the Swatch Group), which bought the Lemania company at some point.
The 1970s Heuer chronographs usually had movements being the successors of the cal.11- which means a Heuer-Breitling chronograph module on a Hamilton-Buren micro-rotor movement. But there does appear to be a Heuer Carrera model from the 1970s, which, as you mentioned, used the Lemania movement.
There was also a 1990s reissue of the Carrera, equipped with the Lemania movement.
If you're asking about the legal ties between Heuer and Lemania, there weren't any, at least not that I know of.

That's what I thought until I was very gently corrected by a big time Heuer collector:

This association between Lemania and Heuer lasted for about 2 1/2 years during the "dark days" of the early 1980's.

The Heuers of this period showed some design elements not seen before or since... More ornate than the simpler sport watches which Heuer had been producing. For example: Heuers about!

Thank you so much for this info.

Do you happen to know the name of Mr. Jack Heuer's book?
    Is it an autobiography?
    Cheers,
