    Longines Glass Back Pocket Watch

    Hello

Can ayone tell me anything about this Longines pocket Watch I picked up in Buenos Aires.

The back of the case is glass - so I can see the inner workings, I realised after purchasing it that this was probably fake, but don't know.

The number on the workings is 191522.

I have also posted a query about an Oblong Omega watch for those interested.

    Thanks,

    Tom

That Longines serial number would date the watch to 1875 so I have my doubts about this one.

Cheers Ray - wha's e best way to find out about it then? I live in Duham, can I take the watch to anyone in the North of England or is it obviously a fake?

    Thanks again,

    Tom

I'd suggest a visit to the Longines website and an email to the Longines Museum curator. Check out the Museums and Contact Sections.
    http://www.longines.com
While you're there you can look at some of the milestone Longines watch movements and see if anything looks like your watch. I do suspect it's a fake though if that is in fact the serial number on the movement.
I'm sure any reputable Longines dealer in the UK could also advise you, since Longines is still in business.

    Sorry Ray (and everyone else)

I got in touch with the Longines museum curator and he's surprised with this watch.

It appears that I didntput the movement number down properly. It is 1915220 !!!!!!

    Any advice?

    Many Thanks,

    Tom

Well that would date it to 1906 or so. That is a more believable date.
I have never seen a watch like this one either, with a 24 hour dial. I would get some detailed photos and send to the museum curator who looks like he can help you more than I can.
