Looking for info on Jules Jurgensen mens 14k day/date

I can't seem to find any info about this watch on the internet. Like I said it's a mens day/day auto with leather strap. The back say 0585 and 14k. The outside box says it's 17 jewels and "Herald". I figured Herald was the model name but I could find absolutely nothing about it online. The face is silver. The markers are all applied. Gold squares with black interiors and an applied 12 and 6. I have no idea how old it is but from what I know about the watch the latest it could be is early 70's but it looks older. If anyone could pinpoint a year that would be nice. Any other info would be appreciated.

I am afraid that, despite your detailed description, some pictures would still help us more. The overall style that enables the expert to say almost intuitively how old the watch is cannot be framed in words.....

Here it is. Looking at it in better light the face is not silver. It's light gold/champagne.

On account of the overall style, particularly of the hour markers, as well as the different colours for day and date disk, I would say that the watch is from the late sixties, give or take a few years. I.e. that it is more likely to be from the sixties than the seventies. The exact movement might give us even more clues but if you fell unhappy about opening it up, then please forget about it.

Ok thanks for the info. I don't think I'll be opening the case so I guess it will remain a mystery to its exact date for now.

If you showed a photo of the movement, we could identify it for you, but most likely it wouldn't provide an accurate date anyway. All the Jules Jurgensen watches I have seen from that era used common ebauches from Felsa, A Schild, etc. I have the sense that at some earlier time JJ was a respected watchmaking company (although honestly I've never really seen an example of this), but it eventually became a brand name used to market watches assembled from standard components.
