Looking for information on this cort watch

Looking for informaiton on this cort watch. The wind up position on the crown seems to be frozen. The crown does pop out and the hands do move when the crown is turned. All it says is the words “cort” and “Swiss” . My grandma thinks it was a graduation present that was givin to my grandpa but I can’t get any confirmation on that.

Could be a trademark of the swiss Cortebert, but the logo is different, or more likely of the Ace Watch Co/Cort Watch Co. based in New York

I didn’t see this post before but I think I will open up the watch soon and take a look at the movment I was talking to my watch maker about them he said worked on a maby two of them in 20 years and that they didn’t really get popular in amarica. I’m thinking it was possibly a gift from my cousins Italy to my grand father. I’ll try to take some pics and post them soon

Well, if it's a Cortebert, I wonder why they didn't put in one of their own movements so I would tentatively favour Cort Watch of NY. The movement is by Adolf Schild, something from this family:

It seems to me that the only connection between the Cort brand and the Cortebert brand is a similarity in the name.

Perhaps not in every case. This Cort of mine is seemingly a sub-brand of Cortebert although, puzzlingly, with an ST 1686 instead of an in-house job.

    Regards.

The nature of many sub brands is that they are a lower quality side line made of bought in parts.
