looking for vintage Longines movement cal. 343

    Hi

I have this old Longines Flagship Gold watch for which I need a new movement.

I was thinking of etiher buy an original replacement movement or go for a new ETA 2836.

After some consulting i the Longines forum here: https://forums.watchuseek.com/f405/vi...t-1497114.html I made made the conclusion that it would be preferable to go for the original movement.

Where shall I look for movements? I have found a very helpful seller located in Miami on eBay, he has quite often some old Longines movements listed, but the condition is quite often unkonwn or just "working" and the price is often around $220

Is this a reasonable price? And what can I expect to find?

Really thankful for help in this matter

Boley certainly have parts and may well be able to supply a complete movement. However, they only supply to professional watchmakers so you would have to get one of those to act on your behalf. But there may be other options.....

curious as to why the entire movement needs replacing and can not be serviced by watchmaker. -I think $220 for a working movement is a decent price for a non-professional watchmaker. you may have some luck on eBay with an old SS flagship model for within the $200-$300 range.

First of all, thanks for your answers.

I had this watch at my watchmaker and he sad that the movement was worn out and that to many spare parts was needed in order to get this to work again.

He didn´t specify it more than that.

But what I have found is the following, the center ball bearing for the rotor is broken. But than I used this watch anyway, just removing the rotor.

After using it for some weeks it suddenly started to run very fast, ~10min+ every hour. After that I haven´t investigated this further.

Do you think it´s possible to repair it or shall I go for the $220 used "working" movement from Ebay?

Do any of you have experience from this seller:

Longines Movement Cal 345 | eBay
this is one of the movements I was considering, looking at the picture I can spot some corrosion and dirt.

What do you think about it?

Seems to be sold anyway but I would not take it on account of the corrosion.

I have managed to find find a good looking 343 with Dial, hands, crown and crystal for 85€ including shipping. So I will go for that one.
