    Lost in the innards of a Elgin Grade 222

    First watch repair effort ... got it all apart expect the center post.

    Any suggestions about how to remove it? (without using a hammer)

    Pinvise on the cannon pinion, hold the center wheel with your fingers and twist/pull.

    Center punch of your staking set on the exposed tip of the center arbor in the exact middle of the cannon pinion.

    Cannon Pinion remover.

    Very cool! Thanks. I actually have a cannon pinion remover but didn't know what it was called or that the 'center post thingy' is called a cannon pinion. Thanks again and wish me luck.
