    Lucien Piccard date?

This is my wife's grandmothers watch. I wound it up and the balance wheel kicked right off and seems to be working fine. Her grandmother passed away a few years ago and this has just been sitting up. It's a nice little 14k watch with what I feel looks like the original spiedel band also. I was wondering is there a site where I can date this? Thanks for any help.

My guess, about 1964, get it serviced.

Is there no way of determining the date for sure by the movement? Is it actually 1964?

Maybe if the movement was make only that year. Find a watchmaker with years of experience.

Is there a reason that you keep directing me to a watchmaker just to get a date for this movement? I didn't ask about servicing the watch, merely dating it. So far, your main response has been for me to take my watch to a watchmaker. I'm hoping that there is actually someone that may have some knowledge of this movement that can help date it instead of having to track down a watchmaker to guess the date also.

Yes, it would be a good way to help date the watch.

I doubt that a watchmaker would be able to date the watch. For that, a collector with specialist knowledge would be just as helpful.

All I can say is that the movement is probably from the Adolf Schild AS 1012 family:

    bidfun-db Archiv: Uhrwerke: AS 1012

...which lasted all the way into the 1970s (the last derivative being the Cal. AS 1977). The US import code on the movement (AXU) for Ditisheim (Solvil & Titus, Lucien Piccard) suggests that it is pre 1967, though.

Thanks HR. That movement looks pretty vlose to what I have. I actually thought it would be easier to date this Lucien with the movement. More of a challenge than what I thought. Lol
