The brand doesn't come up in any of the usual places (e.g. http://www.mikrolisk.de/show.php/280/letter_L).

There were many brands which came and went leaving no trace, and I doubt if you'll find much. It looks 1950's to me. Very nice watch!

You may find more information on the manufacturer on the inside case back (assuming the movment isn't a transplant). And a picture of the movement may help to narrow down the date. This style of case and watch was probably most common in the 50's and late 40's, but it has a sort of timeless appeal that keeps coming back in style.

My father, Luis Martinez, had this watch made. He was a jeweler and jewelry manufacturer. He used to distribute them throughout Puerto Rico and out of his stores in the Bowery Jeweler's exchange and on Clinton Street. I remember him smuggling two large suitcases filled with them to Puerto Rico. I believe he had 700 or 1200 made. The wholesale price was somewhere around $25.00 and he bought them for, I believe $17.00.
