MAPPIN & WEB Watch - Please help identify movement

    Dear watchuseekers,

I recently get hold of this unusual object: a Mappin & Web ring watch.

    All information I have is:
    - It is a black enamel art deco white gold watch
    - The movement has 16 jewels, 3 adjustments

    The movement looks beautiful.

Could you please help to identify the movement. Who made the movement? When was this watch produced? And is it rare or common this type of ring?

    Many thanks,
    Antoine

    Lovely piece indeed.

I presume you searched and found Mappin and Webb, a most famous and prestigious retailer/jeweler? Still in business today.

Movement is Swiss, maybe someone will identify it. It was not made by M&W of course, but back then the jeweler/retailer had more power than the manufacturer.

I would date it to mid 1920s to mid 30s.

Excellent piece, is case 14Kt gold or platinum?

What ever - great piece that would be correct in a Museum

    ENJOY

Looks to me like an Aurore Villeret Cal. AV9 (or possibly the slightly larger Cal. AV8) with a different bridge layout:
