    Mauthe

A first for me, a Mauthe (Germany) from the 1960s:

    I like the 2 of the 12.

    Mikrolisk gives a little infomation:

    http://www.mikrolisk.de/show.php/280/letter_M

The movement is Mauthe's own 612 (or variant - does say 612 though).

    Apparently, better known as clockmakers:

This says they went bankrupt in 1976.

I like it. They were a pretty big manufacturer once, still we don't see them much here.

    Re: Mauthe

Thank you Erik. BTW, I'm not sure how to pronounce Mauthe. This site:

    http://www.pronouncenames.com/pronounce/mauthe

    says: M OW TH EE

which doesn't sound very German to me - but what do I know.

    This is more like it:

    http://www.forvo.com/search/mauthe/

click the arrow to hear an audio pronunciation. Its more like MAO - TE which is more like I'd expect.

Nice watch, and indeed you don't see them around alot... Thanks for sharing!

    about the pronouncement:

Be angry like the German dictator always was and say it as German as you can
short and agressive, not with the "eee" at the end.
just short. and the AU like the when you hit your thumb with a hammer.
    like: AU(ch)......
Sorry if I offended any German forum member, not my intention!
WWII is a long time ago and we could make jokes about it.

    nice day!

PS: just had my first beer after a lousy day, so that's maybe why...

I have a German friend called Hans who I will see in a couple of weeks. I'll hit him with a hammer and check his pronunciation out.

That would be nice - they're pretty uncommon in the UK.

    Hi!

That´s correct - with a short "e" at the end like in "teddy". Congrats, a very nice watch! Rarely seen - also in Germany.
    Best regards, Mike

Found it.Its 1960s type of watch with central second and gold plated case.Crystal is cracked and scratched, and should be replaced.

Dont remember what exactly is not working in this watch, but hope that will make it work at some point.

    Nice.

It certainly looks like its worth fixing up. I notice that the crown on yours is a lot bigger than the one on mine. Mine is quite hard to wind at present, so I'll have to get a replacement crown for it.
