    Mechanical Movement ID

    Dear All
this may be a long shot, but it doesn't hurt to try.
I am trying to identify this movement. There are no marks on the plates, and without taking it apart, I can't see any evident clue about the manufacturer.
The quality of the plates and the finish seem to indicate this may not be a bottom of the line item, but then who knows.
I have got this watch recently, it keeps accurate time.
You can see how a previous murderours attempt to open the watch scarred the wheel bridge.
To the point: did anyone come across a similar movement before, any feature you recognise - if so please post a brief reply and put me out of my misery. Your help is much appreciated.

Searching around Dr. Ranfft's archive will probably find it... bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements It is an amazing collection.

    Good luck and welcome!!
"Forever is composed of nows." - Emily Dickinson

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!

It looks to be similar to an ETA cal. 2801 or variant.

    Rick!
    spot on, just amazing.
thanks for the info & link, much appreciated.
For the record, first day wearing the watch today. Was keeping good time at the time of the opening post. Stopped now - ha ha!
Most likely it needs a thorough service/overhaul.

Most obliged to Eeeb and Gumby for their replies as well.
