    Men's vintage watches

    Hello,

I've not posted for a while  so I hope you won't mind a big plea for help!

I usually collect women's vintage watches - nothing too extravagent yet, and my favourite is a beautiful rose gold piece from the 30's-40's (have yet to firmly date it).

Anyhoo, this means I don't know really know anything about men's vintage watches. My partner has asked me to find him something and I was wondering if anyone could suggest what to look for? Off the top of my head I was thinking something Russian, 70's, that kind of thing, but this is really just because I saw a few nice ones on ebay once! I don't want to spend the earth, probably between 20-70 pounds, unless I was certain I was looking at something worth more (maybe up to £200?).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Having had a quick look these are the types of things I thought were nice and I know the makes are (by an large) good ones, although I don't know how high they'll go in terms of price.

Personal taste is an important factor, I like the Roamer, the Technos is fine but at 30mm is it big enough. The Oris IMHO is already fully priced you can do much better. I've made some posts on Technos and it's history do a search. They're a lot of posts on Sekonda that can help you. There's a seller in HK that has a Technos Sky Chief on a Beads of Rice bracelet that's a heck of a buy. He had two one is on it's way to me. (I checked it didn't sell at US$49.99 it'll be relisted next week)

    Hi again!

Just a quick point - the Bulova is in Israel. HMC+E will hammer you for 17.5% vat on the value (their estimate of value) and the Post Office will charge you £8 for collecting the money.

All look quite good to me. Bear in mind that they will need a service if they're to run trouble free. The Sekonda will be best value - but as a brand it lacks kudos amongst the general public.

Thanks, that's really helpful. Also good to know I'm not completely barking up the wrong tree! I really like the Roamer, and I have a ladies one so it'd be nice to get a gents one for him. Will do a bit more searching...

I think the Roamer is a very good bet. It looks in good condition.
