    Mido Multi Star Datoday 1509

Does anyone know anything about the Mido Multi Star Datoday 1509? It has a weird mechanism that opens the case so I need to take it to my watchmaker to have him crack it open but thought I'd ask here before doing that. It's like from the 70s but the only thing I can find on the model is access to crystals. If it needed one, I'd be set for life. I appreciate any info.

I can't help with information, but with my affinity for 70's watches, I totally dig it! Nice catch!

Okay, I finally got to the movement. Based on what I could actually make out on the movement and what I find on Dr. Ranfft's site, it looks like an ETA 2834. Anyone knowledgeable care to comment? bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: ETA 2834

The right calibre code should be under the balance wheel. If it is an ETA 2824 derivative, it will be the ETA 2836 (still made today). THe difference between the two is that the ETA 2834 has a day-of-the-week window at the top with the entire day shown (just like in the Rolex Day-date) whereas the ETA 2836 has the date and day aligned next to each other. The ETA 2834 also has a larger mainplate to accommodate the larger day wheel. But it could also be an older movement, e.g. ETA 2789:

    bidfun-db Archiv: Uhrwerke: ETA 2834-2
