These are clearer photos of the Montandon pocket watch. Thanks for any help in identifying this watch. I do not know if it is gold or gf?

Are there any hallmarks on the inner side of either of the rear dust covers? There should be a gold hallmark in there, and a stamp indicating the purity of gold.

    Re: MONTANDON POCKETWATCH

On watches like these it's hard to tell what the case content might be. Your bow is definitely plated since it's worn through to the brass. The case (or parts of it) may be plated or solid gold or some combination of the two. I've seen Swiss cases like this that were solid low karat gold that wouldn't qualify for a hallmark, I've seen cases with low karat gold lids and filled center sections, and so on. You've got to remember that at the time your watch was made Swiss watches were for the most part low quality compared to English or American watches and were designed for the low end of the market in many cases. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.
