    Mulco chronograph and crystal question

I have this 1940s? Mulco chronograph needing a crystal. The one that came off of it looks like it had been chewed on at the edges and was sort of loose in the case. Can someone tell me what is a proper crystal for a watch of this type? I did measure the diameter of the inner bezel that it fits into at 32.5mm. The watch itself is about 38mm diameter. I am guess a straight sided crystal is not appropriate? Did any of these have actual glass back in the day?

Thank you for any help or advice.

Most likely was a plexi crystal, could have been glass, but most likely not. A watchmaker should be able to find the correct one
with little problem, for less than $20. You could do this yourself, but without tools and a crystal source, better left to professionals.
The original one probably shrank, resulting in the loose fit. Old plastic does that sometimes.

Actual glass? Nope. Hesalite, i.e. plastic/plexi. Meanwhile, one word of advice- don't touch the dial or hands, as the lume on this one is radium.

Quite unusual pushers (instead of rectangular, oval or "pump" ones), especially for a 1940s watch. Combined with the rather distinctive lug design, I think it's most likely a Spillman case.

Looks like this might be a Spillman case, you should check the case-back markings.

That is a really nice chronograph - Spillman case - notched at crown, inverse chronograph pushers, likely a valjoux 22 - worth quite a crack load in today's market....

Looks like a spillman case to me too. Very nice example in good condition and early chronographs with inverse pushers are pretty hard to come by.
It would have come with a plexi.

Re: Mulco chronograph and crystal question

Thank you for all the responses! I do have some watch tools and have put crystals in watches before but mainly wanted an idea of what was correct for this Mulco. Unfortunately I don't have the correct size of crystal so will have to go hunting.

I haven't touched the dial or hands - mainly as I don't want to mess them up - but good reminder on the radium - yikes!!

I think it is a Spillman case. I will upload another pic shortly. BTW, are there any recommendations for reliable, reasonably priced watchmakers in the U.S. that could service this watch? It needs a clean and oil and I'm thinking the mainspring is set also.

Here is a pic of the back and movement. Back kind of rough.

Also, if you are interested in restoring some originality, I suspect that the small minute register hand has been replaced at some point. I think it should have an arrow on it like the examples below. Minor thing.
