My 1st vintage watch (and 1st post here)

    Hi everyone.

This is my first post here, and I'm anxiously expecting my first vintage watch in the mail. It's a gorgeous Movado made for Tiffany (ca. 1944), which I bought off the SC. I have been scouring the web for information on this watch (or ones like it), but have found very little. If you can provide some info on Movado's connection with Tiffany, or info on the watch's 15 jewel movement, or anything at all even tangentially related to this subject, I would really appreciate it. For photos and the SC announcement, click on the link below:

    Thanks in advance! ~TJ

Welcome to Watchuseek Vintage forum. Your watch is definitely late thirties/early forties in style. I suspect that Tiffany's had no connection with Movado whatsoever - there are several watches by even the greatest of the great (Patek Philippe) with "Tiffany" on the dial. The reason is that the more famous jewellers asked watchmakers to put their name on the dial as well and, providing the jeweller was well enough known (or the watchmaker pretty inconspicuous!), the maker obliged. Sometimes, you even find both names on the dial.

The movement is an in-house Movado movement, probably a Cal. 470:

...which was used as a basis for other movements with calender complications. Yours obviously just has the plain small second.
