    My first Accutron!

Received this '73 2182 Accutron in the mail today and I have to say I am very pleased. Great watch! I'm going to have this one around for quite a while!

'It gives you that hummin' feeling!'

Meanwhile, after 'my first Accutron', I have a few too. Sooner or later, you will come accross a Tissonic (Tissot) or an Omega F300. The different tuning fork watches are 'swinging' between 300 and 720 Hz. The Accutron swings at 360 Hz. It is real fun to put the Accutron at your ear, swinging near the tone F/4, and then the Tissonic (or Omega F300), swinging near the deeper D/4.

One advantage of the Accutron tuning fork watches is, that most of them, despite occasional problems, can take the new button cells with 1.5 V (originally they all had the old type with 1.35V).

Be a bit careful with setting day and date (that basically goes for all watches with that complication). If done at the wrong time of the day (usually between 10 pm and shortly after midnight, when the watch is preparing for the shiftings), you can ruin the disks.

I am sure, sooner or later our friend 'Accutronredux' will stop by and I hope he will give us an updated image of his Accutron collection. I guess he has to spread 'em out under the entire carport, stacked 5 feet high, to get them all together.

Beautiful, congrats! Give it lots of wrist time, man, and wear in good health.

Thanks guys, here is a better picture of the textured dial in the sunlight. I haven't seen another like it yet.

Thanks everyone! So, I cracked the crystal today on the doorframe of my truck. Getting it replaced Monday. Ugh.

    Re: My first Accutron!

dropped my Spaceview onto the timber floor the crystal got cracked so got the re-po replacement rather than much more expensive NOS since I really don't need the lume. :) Arrived 2 weeks later and it went on - with a bit of difficult as I had to press it down really hard to fit in properly.

also ordered the Accucell since my Spaceview 214 was running rather slow when off the wrist using the normal battery.
Now it's dead accurate whether on the wrist or off the wrist. :)
