My First Elgin Pocket Watch has come Home!

I went to pick up my first Elgin today, from my watchmaker.

Wow, he did a nice job.

The brassed, gold-filled case has been polished, the dial has been cleaned and most importantly...the crystal has been replaced!

It's a 16-size pocket watch with 15 jewels, made in 1918. I guess that would make it a wartime watch. It's got a plain, but easily-read dial with a couple of (barely noticeable) chips, but otherwise it's wonderful.

    The movement reads:

    Elgin Nat'l. Watch Co.
    USA

    15 Jewels.

WWI was certainly evident in Elgin's advertisements from 1918:

    Enjoy your Elgin!

    Hey Erik,

Thanks! I've been timing it against my railroad watch and so far, it's playing the part of the Little Elgin that Could.
