    Hello and Happy New Year!!!
This is a nice pocketwatch from Zenith. I am no expert but it seems genuine to me. the serial number you posted is from the case. to find out the production date you need the serial number printed on the movement. There is a table with serial numbers posted in this forum. Just search for "zenith serial numbers" and you will find it. Alternative you can send a e-mail to Zenith with the serial to date it for you.

Of course it's valuable, it was your Grandfather's. My Grandfather started me in the world of vintage watches, never been the same :-P
Valuations are against forum rules, but it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to determine the condition of a piece just by photos. It needs to be evaluated by a competent watchmaker

Welcome to Watchuseek! You have a nice Zenith pocket watch there. It's value? As much as anyone will be prepared to pay for it! We do not give official valuations here since there are too many factors involved for us to be able to give you an accurate figure. Have a look around eBay or similar sites and see what these things generally go for.

As for the age of the watch, it must be more recent than 1896 (it refers to the gold medal Zenith won in Geneva that year). The movement is a Zenith Cal. 19-277 (savonette) which indicates that it is 19''' (old french lignes, 1'''=2.26mm) or ca. 43mm across and that it is a savonette or "hunter" movement (small seconds hand at right angles to the crown). This movement was used until about 1905. The fact that the name "Zenith" appears on the dial suggests that the watch was post-1900 but it may still be from the late 19th century.
