    My Great Grandfather's Pocket Watch

I am relatively new to the world of collecting and enjoying watches. I am back visiting my parents for the holidays and decided to check out my great grandfather's pocket watch which I was given about 20 years ago by my grandmother. I had it serviced about that time, but otherwise, it has just sat in a drawer. A bit tentatively, I wound it up. Sure enough, it still runs and keeps excellent time. I hope you all enjoy it. Of course, I would never sell it for any amount of money.

    Warm Regards,
    Jon

If it sat for 20 years it would probably be best to have it serviced again, mainly because the old oil after 20 years isn't very good anymore. A very nice looking movement though!

Yes. Have it re-serviced. 20 years is well past the Use-By date. But, it's a 15-jewel Waltham. That's a quality watch, I'll say that much. The demaskeening is pretty nice.

Your movement was manufactured in between 1899 & 1908. The serial no 9,000,000 date - 1899 ; serial no 10.000.000 date - 1901. Hope the info is helpful.
