My "new" Raketa has arrived! Help needed with a problem.

Well, after 3 weeks waiting, my "new" Raketa has finally arrived from Bulgaria.
It's my first vintage Russian and so far I'm loving it.
I would love to hear your opinions about it.
I can only find two issues: first of all, the case needs some TLC to get it's gold shine back. What's the best way to polish it? Second, there's a problem with the crystal. It's made out of plastic and it seems like if somebody tryed do squeeze it in and couldn't do it quite right. So, there's a small opening on one of the sides. You can see it in one of the pictures.
Any ideias on how to fix it?
    Thanks for your time.

    Hi. Great case on that!

I use a little metal polish and a soft cloth. Don't polish too much, as it removes some of the plating.

The crystal should have been inserted using a crystal lift tool. See:

    One-Piece Cases and the Crystal-Lift Tool [2000] - TimeZone

Sometimes the crystal can be pressed in using your fingers. But it may be that the crystal is one size too big for the watch. Either way, a watchmaker can help you if it doesn't pop back in easily.

    Thanks for your sugestion, Marrick.
What about the dial and the hands? Any idea?
Can I ask you another question? What are the basic tools to begin "playing" with watches?

What about the dial and hands? They look OK to me.

This is a very useful start point, including a suggestion for tools needed. And it tells you how to remove hands and dials.

But do not start with nice watches. Start with junk.
