Looks like an average 1970s piece with an ETA movement, exact calibre number is under the balance wheel, in the picture I can see a 27-something-something, and so my guess is that it's an ETA 2790:
bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: ETA 2790
As to the Nikko brand, that's the first time I hear of it- it's most likely one of these small companies, which existed by the dozen, went bankrupt one by one during the quartz crisis, and so there are hardly any resources on them. Luckily, there's an entry in Mikrolisk for Nikko:
Mikrolisk - The horological trade mark index
Trade mark registered in 1974, so that's the earliest possible date of manufacture of your watch.

Re: My newest acquisition. What is it?

These movements were either 17 or 25 jewels, and regardless of that the calibre number stays the same.
I have thought that this might be a 2780, but since the Ranfft archive (the holy scripture of watch movements) states that the 2780 was produced until 1970, and the brand was registered in 1974, then there's something wrong, no? But then again, Mikrolisk is not infallible. So 2780 is also a plausible explanation, if we consider a possible error in Mikrolisk, and believe me, the more you use Mikrolisk for brand identification, the more errors will appear- I remember Mikrolisk giving the date of registration for some brand in the 1940s, while the company was known to exist for at least 30 years before the date they've given. I think that it might have been Aero Watch of Neuchatel that this error pertained to, though I'm not sure.

Mikrolisk tends to be very good at recording things. Interpreting them is much more open to assumptions. Just because Mikrolisk has a registration date for a brand doesn't mean that it's the first date it was registered. And yes of course any list will reinforce errors in the base data.

Someone said they often had back stock of movements from years before the watch manufacturer came about, so it could be manufactered after 1974 with a pre 1974 movement.

Re: My newest acquisition. What is it?

Quite possible. Using up old movements a few years after they were made was a common practice.
