It was my grandfather's and must have been bought in the 60s but I can't work out the exact model - I haven't seen one exactly like it. Anyone know more?
    Thanks for looking,

    Hi and welcome.

Have you looked on Polerouter at all? Otherwise, is it possible to see a picture of the movement?

    Hi, great to be here!
I have looked but can't see it there - I don't think the site works very well in Chrome though.
I don't have the tools to get the back off and don't want to do anything rash - do you have any advice/pointers?

    Ric

Update: I've just looked at the site using ie and it looks like it could be a Polerouter Geneve - the description variations kinda fit.

No - if you don't have a case wrench don't try - it just helps to date it if we can see the movement and the serial number. But its not worth scratching it up just for that.

The website works fine for my computer w/ chrome.
Thanks for the photo, a nice classic watch! You can always take it to a watch repair person (not a strip-mall battery replacer) to have them properly remove the back. We're (almost) all gear-heads on this forum, so we like to see the movement. Most times, a clear photo of the movement can help in narrowing down when it was made and what type of movement it is.

Nice watch. I think it is a Polerouter Date, probably produced between 1959 and 1964.

This is mine, one of the first produced in 1954

The Polerouter has been the first important project of Gerald Genta when he was only 23

I now have a problem. First up it slows to a halt when not being worn, probably too quickly. Now the winder has come out! It seems to have got itself unscrewed. I've ordered a case wrench so will have a peek inside as soon as it arrives. Any advice/views welcome. FYI, it was cleaned and serviced a few years ago but has been sitting idle since then so it's a bit of a surprise that the winder has now unscrewed itself.

    Re: My Polerouter

    Hi There and welcome!

i saw this when you first posted the thread.... sorry to hear you are now having troubles!

being honest, when i first saw it, I thought the dial had been refinished... I was only looking on my iphone, so the pic was not the clearest.... so decided not to say anything - plus, I seem to be Mr grumpy lately - I keep pointing out issues with peoples watches!

Im still not 100% convinced with the dial now I see it on my laptop!

    1. I have never seen 'AUTOMATIC' on a UG polerouter in lower case letters!
    2. POLEROUTER (and the 'U' logo) looks a little clunky - could just be the angle of the pic or a scratch/defect in the crystal making it look odd.
    3. The finish just does not look right to me - could just be me!

I have a love hate relationship with Polerouters, so I hope Im wrong about the dial. I think the movement may be able to tell you more about its past!!

You are right; I wrote 1954 instead of 1955 when the first Polerouter (Cal. 138 bumper) has been manufactured.
