    Mysterious "LOINS" watch

    Previous post here :

So, this watch is probably more than 40 years old, has a R7 Cal.

and that's about it. The LOINS brand seems to have vanished in the air.

I noticed something weird, not so long ago : there might be some sort of oxidization process going on for some time…

    See what I mean ?

I think the movement is a Wurthner.

See www.uhrenbastler.de - Würthner 10 1/2 (second example) - but maybe not an exact match.

The oxidation is probably ocurring where the thin plating is wearing through.

Yes. The strange thing is that there was no evolution for years, and now, it seems to spread fast

Since I opened the watch, now I think of it… ohoh…

Yeah, there are probably several micro holes in that plating and skin oils and acid are reacting with the base metal. If the plated surface is gold it's likely low karat so the alloys may also be tarnishing. You could try polishing it then coating with lacquer. Or just call it patina and enjoy an old watch with a unique dial.

Looks nice Reno, maybe a little Polywatch on the crystal to get that great looking dial to really come through.

    Thanks

The cristal is in near-perfect condition (especially considering its age)… the last photos were taken with an ooooooold camera I use for quick & dirty shots

Here is a better pic :
