    Mystery Favre-Leuba watch

    Dear all,

First time on here, though watching and appreciating the knowledge and the manners for some time. You seem to be a good forum.

I've been looking at FL Twin Powers and have seen an odd movement. Seem to be Indian which is no surprise, but still definitely twin rotor. Dr. Ranfft sheds no light. I'm thinking Indian domestic market movements at a wild guess, They do seem genuine though, but don't match to any of the twins that I've seen .

Since I'm new, I can't post pictures or links, but you can see what I mean if you go to EBay UK and search for:

    The other one is
VINTAGE FAVRE LEUBA GENEVE TWIN POWER SWISS MEN'S WATCH lot933-a74733-2

Repainted orange dial but possibly tidy movement. And no, I'm not going to buy it. Just interested about this off twin power movement,

    All the best,
    RR

I am not an expert, but its quite obvious that this is a franken watch that has been assembled with what ever parts the seller could get his hands on. The movement dosen't fit correctly in the case and appears to be held in place only by the winding stem!!

More over this dosen't appear to be a twin power movement which has twin barrels (not rotor, as you mention).

Right choice in not buying it, however, please wait for an expert opinion to get a better picture of what you have.

That is definitely a single-barrel movement so the watch cannot be a Twin-Power.

    Re: Mystery Favre-Leuba watch

Sorry for the late reply. That looks very much like something from the ETA 2850 family of movements:

    bidfun-db Archiv: Uhrwerke: ETA 2851

...and is therefore from the early seventies. The big questions are: (i) did FL ever use that movement (not unlikely since they did use generic movements as well as in house) and (ii) did FL use this particular one at around the time that watch was made? If the movement slops around and doesn't fit, it could also just mean that the movement holder ring is gone and not necessarily point to frankenisation.

Hi guys. I'm new here and not too sure how to use this forum.

I recently bouth this watch: fabre leuba shark 1 (didn't even know this brand, i just liked the look of it).
I brought it to a watchmaker and they assured me that the movement and all the parts are original (swiss made) and in good condition, but they are not familiar with the brand and model and cant give me any other info.

Can anyone help me to find out:
Date/ era the watch is from?
Rarity? (Can't find the shark 1 anywhere, just shark 2)
    Value?

I don't think it's an indian repaired one. But if anyone think it is please let me know.
I tried to load some pictures but it won't let me.

Hi and welcome. We really will need to see pictures in order to tell you much more than you already know. But yes you will have to make a few more posts before you can do that. Please try not to make posts with no content as these may get deleted.

With pictures we have members who can help you.
