Question Mystery Lord Elgin men's watch 14k, 21 jewels w/ sub dial

    Hello.

I have in my possessions a Lord Elgin watch from the 1950s. Apparently it was given as a retirement gift to a E.N. Polson by Robert B. Schnering the president of Curtiss Candy Company at the time. The back reads "E.N. POLSON 1929-1954 FROM ROBERT B. SCHNERING PRESIDENT CURTISS CANDY COMPANY" and 14KGOLDFILLED. I'd love to know more about the history of the watch in question. Who Mr/Ms/Mrs Polson might have been, was this a run of the mill retirement gift, does the watch have any special value, etc. Anything you can give me.

This is the same exact watch but without the engraving: https://......./UnD0wA (link to eBay - not mine).

    Thank you and happy watching.

A standard corporate gift commemorating 25 years at the company, but not necessarily a retirement. Collectible but not particularly rare or valuable. Enjoy.

That's one of the two versions of the Gregory, made in the early 1950s, model number 4622. In my experience, these pretty much exclusively carried the 670, a sweet little 21j, US-built movement.
