Someone has gone to some trouble to remove the original markings; you see that sometimes on repurposed inventory stock. The markings as remain tell me the watch wasn't originally sold in the American market. The movement looks sorta like a Unitas; I can see what looks like an ebauche mark and part of a caliber number underneath the balance wheel; if you can read that, it'll tell us who make the movement, which can help narrow the date. Off hand, it looks like a 30's or 40's design.

Wow never knew that markings were alter. Thanks for being so observant. This will help. I know my grandfather traveled to italy
So he actually purchased it here. Thanks again. The movement is swiss? Correct.
