Need Help - Elgin Deluxe? Driver Please help me to identify this watch

Hi All, I´m starting my collection just got 3 old watches, one of them the first is this great Elgin Drivers Watch, I want to restore, it is working, but will like to know more about the date and general, information on the watch. Enjoy pics, and let me know your advice on what is the next thing to do with this beautiful piece

It appears that what you have is a Lord Elgin Model 3525 which someone has replaced the dial on with an incorrect plain Elgin dial and wrong shape minute track. The movement is an Elgin 15/0 grade 538 made about 1939.

Here is an image of what the watch dial should have looked like from the 1940 Elgin catalog (credit to GeneJockey for making the catalog available).

No problem. I just checked my stuff and I don't have a dial for it. But - it is a model that you see pretty often so I don't think it will be that hard to come by. Maybe one of the Elgin folks who hang out around here can help.

Otherwise - keep an eye on ebay...sometimes it is a bit of a wait but patience can pay off.
