Confused Need help identifying longines pocket watch

    Bought Longines pocket watch today
    Need some help with it.
Looks like this one has some complications, such as stop watch.
Judging by serial number on the movement it was made around 1941 but the case serial pointing to 1908...
    Is this WWII watch?
Both case and movement singed Longines.
Was the watch re cased? Also what kind of movement is this?
What would be a price range for this watch?

    Hi and welcome
You have a lovely 17 Jewel Longines single button chronograph. The button on crown will start , stop and reset the sweep second hand.
If you tell me the serial number I can date it exactly
I can (or you can ) write to Longines and they will tell you when it was made and who it was first sold too.
They have all the written records of every watch they made and sold.

    Regards

Any idea on how rare this watch is? I paid a lot for it comparing to other watches I have...
Not sure if anyone can give me retail price range.

    Thanks

There were several Longines chronograph pocket watches that sold recently on eBay, but most are different than yours.

Short of keep an eye out for a watch like yours on eBay and seeing how much it goes for, your best bet is probably getting it appraised in person by an expert who specializes in antique pocket watches.

But it's quite nice! Great find and it looks to be pretty uncommon.

it is 6 million started 1940 and
    7 million 1945.
    Slow period during WWII

    So 1941 is my guess.
May have been made/ sold for WWII use??
    It is a nice piece.

What are you using to "date" the case serial? Rarely are case serial numbers useful for that; the only reliable ones tend to specific to wristwatches and certain higher-end brands. A watch like this requires a fairly particular case (in order for the chrongraph functions to work) so I'd guess the movement is original to the case unless there is good evidence to the contrary.

    I was using movement serial.
To clarify I was trying to use the same web app for case serial but not sure if I should have.
I think this app was only designed for movement serial numbers.
