    Need Help Identifying Vintage Bulova

    Hey guys,

I was wondering if you could help me in identifying a solid gold vintage Bulova I purchased by accident on eBay. The watch appears to be a Director or Tuxedo model with the 7AK movement. One concern I have is the lack of any kind of serial number or Bulova engraving on the outside of the case back, which I thought these models all had. Are these cases thick enough to grind/polish these engravings out? The seller gurantees the watch is 100% authentic, so I think I can return it if it's been tempered with.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Thank you Jim.

Should the watch have etchings on the outside case back, or did this model ever come with a blank case back like my watch?

I thought these did have some sort of case number on the outside. Not positive though. But it is a 73 yr old watch. Could have been polished/worn off over the years.

It is ether the Tuxedo or the craftsman

The only difference is that the Tuxedo came with a solid gold band and the Craftsman was on pigskin strap.

the lack of serial number on the back is fine. I don't think these had them until 1947 or 1948. My Craftsman did not have numbers on the case back

1949 was the first year of the date code being on the case back. Before it was just on the movement.

    Nice watch
