Need help opening a vintage Elgin.

Hi guys, I received this watch as a gift, but I have no idea how to open the back.

There is no notch or lip. The edge of the case back appears to go down straight into the case. Any help would be appreciated. I thought it might be a front entry design, but I didn't want to break the stem if it wasn't the case. Thank you!

Looks like a front loader, you need a crystal removal tool. These compress the circumference of the crystal allowing easy removal.

    Thanks!

I can remove the crystal. So it has a split stem?
