Need help with vintage Hamilton pocket watch

Hey guys, I recently picked this old pocket watch up for cheap and i have some questions for people who know about more about these things than I do
When I pull the stem up I canít turn the hands, it feels the same as if I was trying to wind it. It also doesnít run when itís laying on its back.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

could be a lever set watch. On a lever set, the face opens, and on yours it looks like it unscrews to expose a "lever" around the 2 o'clock position. That is pulled out and the the stem is used to set the watch time. Before you try this search lever set for details. if unsure, don't do it, go to a watchmaker or a good jeweler.

The dial chip between 10 and 11 minutes virtually guarantees that this is a lever set watch...

I'd give an 80% chance or better of it being a 940, and probably a late fully marked "Motor Barrel" version with gold jewel settings.

Never mind on it not running sometimes.. a screw had come loose and would get stuck in the flywheel

That's not really a good sign. It might have a bust pivot on the balance staff on the movement side. Does it run in the hanging position? If not, the chances are rather high that you need a new balance staff.

It runs in the hanging position, but when I tilt it in random directions the ticking will sometimes slow down... why is that?
