Need some help please! (Pic heavy)

My grandfather's watch has resurfaced after our recent house move. I've made some progress towards identifying its history with Watches of Switzerland Edinburgh but could do with a hand. Had a look online but couldn't find any information on V.W. Ltd. The dial is 25mm.

David at WOS advises it boasts an enamel face (albeit cracked and chipped) Breguet blue hands, and that the case was assayed in Birmingham in 1933. David also suggested that the movement MAY be by Rolex as it was usual at this particular period of time. Any help would be appreciated.

    I've attached some shots

    Thanks in advance

    Ken

Watch should be older then 1933.,couse it looks like 1910-1920 style watch, with enamel dial and fixed lugs.

If the case has been hallmarked for 1933 then it could be from then - or the movement might have been recased . VW Ltd would have been a British casemaker and Meteor probably a case model (although Meteor was also a Swiss watch brand.)

There were lots of Swiss movement makers active in that period - Tavannes, Buren, Longines, etc. Perhaps someone will recognise the movement.

    Its a very nice watch.

The case is also marked A.L.D. = Dennison Watch Case Co.

The name "meteor" was used by Vulcain. I wonder if the V.W ltd stamped on the caseback could be for Vulcain Watch Ltd??

Although with the watch being made in Britain, I think that VW ltd here means Vertex Watch Ltd. I do know that Dennison made cases for Vertex. I suggest you try researching Vertex to identify the movt.

Is there a mark under the balance ?

    Regards
