Never underestimate the taste of the public

Quality is wasted on some people.
Here's a seller on ebay has some nice genuine old pocket watches but he's also selling a couple of tacky Ukrainian fakes.
The buyers are going gaga for the fakes and bidding them higher than any of the real items.

Well if they like it, it's their money.

It is impressive how the seller doesn't actually say anything false but makes it so easy to misunderstand the the authenticity and originality of the watch, or really lack there off.

I do have to admire that these guys can take an $50-$100 pocketwatch, repaint the dial, weld on some lugs and add a strap and then convince people over and over again that these watches are worth $500+

With internet access available to the general public, either at home or inside internet cafes, anyone who buys a blatant fake because they can't be bothered to do a minimum of research; deserves what they get . . . To be cheated out of their money.

'Blatant fake' would imply that the seller Says - Fake Omega Wristwatch - converted with a Omega pocket watch movement - and I dont think anyone deserves to get cheated out of their money!

However, I agree that if I were to spend that money, I would probably do some research.... but then again, I know that the watch market is full of fakes... especially Omega.

You do get some idiots out there, ebay happy people. When I bought my first watch on ebay all I did was read up about how to spot a fake.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. By "blatant fake," I meant blatant to anyone who decided to do a minimum of research before buying the watch.

    It is a blatant fake.
Omega never made a "Regulateur" and no-one was making 50mm wristwatches back in those days.
The seller knows he's moving Ukrainian fakes but says he can't see any problem with that.
He's gone and listed more now.
