New arrivals for pops and me

I had a nice package all the way from the USA today, thanks to my good friend Thoth it contained two of the nicest looking 1920’s pocket watches I’ve ever seen

First is my dad’s 1925 Illinois “The Garland “

Next is my 1923 Illinois “Autocrat”

Both are white gold filled and whilst not railroad spec, they nonetheless scream quality when held in the hand, they are not to big either, being 12 Size , 44-45mm for us Europeans, that’s a nice size for a dress watch

    Thanks again Thoth

    Matt

I'm glad they found a good home with great collectors. :)

They were part of John's collection and I know Matt likes having history to the watches he gets. John particularly liked the fish scale pattern to the Autocrat. Interestingly they were the only two 12 size watches in the entire lot.

    Nice watches both! Congrats!
And interesting dial on your Autocrat

My Timex Mercury I’ve always seen as having a futuristic vibe - but there’s an echo of the Autocrat

    Nice watches.

I love the Art Deco looks of them. I know folks say that the pocket watch era was done by 1920 but i disagree. The Deco era allowed pocket watches one last stylistic hurrah and a lot of folks still used and bought them in the 1920(It was far easier to have a pocket watch safely in a pants pocket then to be bashing your new wrist watch against everything.

I have bought from Thoth before and his descriptions are spot on.

Thanks folks, we’re loving these latest additions, they’re keeping great time and are quite simply some great eye candy, I found myself taking it out to see the time and only once I’d put it back in my pocket did I realise that I still didn’t know the time
