    Picture New (Old) Elgin!

My *Bay purchase arrived! It's definitely better than the auction made it seem. The face is almost perfect, the plating on the case looks good, and the acrylic crystal is barely scuffed. It's on a no-name "USA" stretch band that I think works well with it.

The AS/ST 1950 movement wound, set and runs so quietly I can barely hear it even when I wedge the thing in my ear.

If I'm reading the Ranfft page right, this movement is from around 1965 or so, right?

For what it's worth, the case was made by Louis Lang, SA.

I'm happy. Especially for $16, shipped to my door.

Nice looking watch! Not sure about when the movment was first produced, but I believe the "E" logo on the dial indicates that this was produced by the "post Elgin" Elgin, which was after 1968.

    Thanks!!

When I put it on this morning, it had lost about 2 minutes over 12 hours. Not a big deal at all.

2 minutes over 12 hours is a big deal. Your watch needs cleaning/oiling/servicing, please don't run it over any length of time as the oils most likely have dried out over the years and you will damage it if you run it dry. The dial condition is wonderful.

Agreed it should be serviced this should run within 10 sec a day or less. I also picked up one of these recently very similar anyway with the same mvt and a black dial I paid a bit more.

Nice watch, especially for the price! You SHOULD have it serviced, but for that price, who cares?
