    New Toy...

    Hi -

Well, actually two new toys. Got a great deal on an Olympus EP-1 with the kit lens (14-42, 28-84 in 35mm equivalent). Checking to make sure the camera worked, I took this:

That's the other new toy: Hamilton with the 770 movement, a fine specimen in 10k gold, I do believe it is a Parker B.

It's the watch presented to Jack A. Daniel in appreciation for 30 years of service to B.F. Goodrich. Wears beautifully on a 17mm Alligator calf strap.

    Rather pleased with both acquisitions...

PS: camera was set to monochrome with the low key exposure program...the only change to the original jpg was to re-size it.

Very nice, John. I've owned a couple Parker Bs and loved them. I'm sure you know the "B" indicates it was made in the 1950s and equipped with Hamilton's 7XX series round movements rather than the then-discontinued 982M. Great pick up!

    Fine looking watch.

Do you know the significance of the use of the name Parker? I was confused by the pic for a while thinking the Parker was the pen.

I find no special mention of the Parker model in Rondeau's "Hamilton Wristwatches." It's just another name, I think.

    Hi -

Maybe in, oh, about 4 weeks. I'm heading off on vacation and will only be here every once in a while.

Got a Lord Elgin and an Enicar Sherpa Guide GMT waiting for me there.

    Re: New Toy...

    Hi -

It's actually the fifth Hamilton I have with the 770, and I've got 3 dial/movements/hand for a project. Two square, three round. This is pretty much the nicest...and the one least in need of TLC.

    JohnF

PS: At some point I will do a disassembly and show what an outstanding movement the 770 was. But that will take a while...
