    Odd little Damas... movement?

    Hi Chaps,

Just saw Marricks post on his 'Polar' watch... which reminded me of this watch I have...

Not done anything with it since I bought it over 12 months ago... still dirty!!

Dont think the case is a match to the dial/movement... the case back certainly is not, as it says 15 rubies... when the dial/movement clearly says 17 jewels!

The crown is not right... and I am not sure about the stem! The stem pulls put and I cant set the watch... it does wind and run!!

However, as I dont know what the movement is, Its hard to get parts!! the movement is signed 'swiss made' 17 jewel and Damas... But I know damas just bought in movments... so, unsure!

Im guessing the watch dates to the mid late 40s?? maybe early 50s?

    I think it's a FHF 28 with a slightly customized plate/bridge

Over the years I've collected all sorts of movements and "project" watches ... mainly inexpensive vintage pieces.

These days I've widened my gaze to include modern pieces (including quartz with analog or analog + digital displays) but with those I'm generally looking for models in solid steel cases.

Nice little watch. I found one on Tuesday, at my local flea market, in a mixed bag. £1.50 the lot. Mine also has a rather lovely movement, although the case is heavily worn, and the crystal is shot. But for £1.50 the lot, I'm not complaining:

    JL... nice catch!!

I need to get myself up to Bucks... south coast is not the place for bargains!!

Cheers K! I think the watch was about $12... from the states! I have a soft spot for Damas... as it was the first make I bought! A Jump hour Damas... which I cant find!

Damas is a nice brand - uncommon, but a bit of personality. Mine says hello:
