    old Girard Perregaux Caliber 02

I recently got this old GP. It's quite beat up, but the style is just really really nice .
I was wondering if any of you vintage maniacs know more about this movement.
It's signed '02' and below that '1121' on the barrel bridge. I haven't taken the thing apart yet, but will service it soon.

Dr Ranfft's database doesn't contain a caliber 02 for GP, however it does have a cal. 03 listed.

I'm guessing its some AS or maybe a Peseux, but its a caliber I don't recognize immediately.

The case might be too far gone, but the movement/dial look okay to me.

Thanks :) Hope you're right! It's the case that's worrying me. Needs major work done on the lugs..
I have a bunch of AS donors movements so I'll get it running for sure.
Will post this project when I get to it.

I'm restoring a small old building that I'll use as a workshop. Almost finished the roof and expect to be done in a week.. After that I can do some serious watchmaking :)

Also, it only looks like you're missing one fixed bar and no actual lug?

Yea one bar has been ripped in half. I will probably just replace the bars, but cutting them off and drilling a hole for a spring bar is also an option.
Will have a closer look at it but will probably just replace the bar.

Be honest, you digged it out in your garden, didn't you?

Anyway, it's always a challenge to turn such rusty trash into a watch again.
I do it now and then also - of couse senseless from economical point of view,
but the more senseful as hobby.

Exactly. It's such a shame to see a nice watch decay, and what a great feeling to restore it to a wearable condition.
I'm always wondering what the history of such a watch has been.
I got this from a guy in Israel, and as it's a late 30's or early 40's watch, it must have seen quite some things in it's life.

Heck it's almost 4 times as old as I am :O
