    Old "marriage" watch

Ever buy a watch and then get it in the mail and wonder what you were thinking? This watch came today and its obviously some watchmakers Frankenstein. Its so bad I like it and it does have some age to it so I consider it vintage even though it is obviously a pocket watch made into a wrist watch years ago. 43.30mm wide not including crown. I can swear the dial is the original with a laminated paper dial glued over it. Just thought I would share this with the board as its kind of interesting to see an old "marriage" watch. I wonder how old it is.

Well, I don't think it's a case conversion but much rather a recasing of the old movement. The movement might even be pre-WWI but the case will be more like WWII or just before. The movement at least is something by Corgemont (it also say so on the mainspring barrel wheel) and I wouldn't exclude the possibility of that name being found under the slap-on dial on the original one.

Yes that is exactly the name on the barrel! That is interesting that its never been a pocket case. So they custom made cases like this as far back as ww2?

Cases for pocket watch movements have been made since the 1910’s when wrist watches first started becoming popular. Many of the first wristwatches were made with pocket watch calibres straight from the factory.
