Old and new Bulova military style

An unused good quality $50. modern military style is impressive with its fine case and strap. About a third larger than the WW2 U.S. made military issue. I will use it rather than a good original example to be preserved. Well worth its new discount price of $100. in my opinion. Quartz accuracy and finer water resistant case. Glad to know Bulova name still honored with good quality although at a low price. Catalog photo. My own not loading. Old ones load easily. The extra movement is a commercial also U.S. made. I suppose wartime as well. I thought the old Bulovas were Swiss made.

I suspect Bulova got extra points in the bidding process by using US made movements. I am amazed at the prices some of these military watches are getting but yours seem quite reasonable for what you get.

I confess I am not sure what watch is what but I assume the subsecond dialed one is the oldest.

"The watch has to be surrounded by a history.
You need more than just a great design. You need to create an atmosphere around the product.
Who is the company behind it? Why are they using this material?
People need to be able to identify the watch with themselves. It's based on emotion." - Ralph Furter

...that's just my opinion and I've been wrong before and will be again and might be now!

Colonel Jane Robbins' watch would be the oldest, and a rare collectible. The subsecond dialed one is a modern watch.

Actually Bulova made fine watches in the US up until the 60's. I have a very fine, US made, Bulova 23 jewel automatic made in 1955, which is my birth year.

In trying to minimize text I often lose proper clarity and intent of the message. The point of this was to compare a Modern Bulova named military style with the popular old real one. As a practical matter the new one is much better and low cost although without sweep seconds normally on military styles. Most Bulovas I have are Swiss made and are post war ages.

Probably like this one. These were specially made starting 1953 to be all American. Virtually all conventional Bulovas were Swiss made then. Has odd pinned square case supposed to be waterproof and with every up to date feature as stamped on the back. Came in a fancy box that I also have. This one not solid gold, and certainly not waterproof now. Were fairly popular so not rare, but one of the best Bulovas in 1953+.

Actually this one. The sellers picture is poor, it cleaned up perfectly, it's currently on it's way back to me after a service and new crystal. It's accuracy was better than a minute a day before servicing

Nice to see that fancy version. Probably same movement? Wonder how many different style watch cases they made. Not sure if all had the 6 adjustments. Yours may be rare.

It does say it's adjusted in six positions.
