    Old pocket watch

I found this in a local jewelry store I used to frequent before I moved, and I forgot to post it up. I purchased it probably close to a year ago and immediately sent it out to be serviced. It runs great, and I like it so far

Obviously a railroad-style dial. Could have a railroad-grade movement inside; dunno if it's obvious that it has one or not, American PWs aren't my cup of tea - some of their fans endlessly pontificating about their superiority to anything else are just about as annoying as "Rolex vs. Grand Seiko" or "Rolex vs. Omega" threads in the Public forum.

You should post a photo of the movement.

Mediocre...Hello. Looks to be USA--some later Models were Swiss. The dial certainly has a few issues, but almost certainly could be cleaned-up: the dark lines are called "hairline cracks", and appear because of debris having settled into the cracks...remove the debris, and the dark lines go away!

I own several such watches, and have had very good results cleaning this type of dial...any good watchmaker should be able to 'improve' ( my word...) it.

I rather expect that this is a "992"...if so, it's a 16size, 21 Jewel Railroad Grade movement. It's certainly possible, however, that there's another movement here... Michael.
