    Omega Constellation Pie Pan Opinions

    Hello...

I am looking at picking up this Omega this afternoon.

Crystal looks a little rough and crown is not Omega.

I was looking for opinions on the watch. Should it have the gold medallion on the caseback?

    Thanks in advance.

Medallion is correct, watch looks ok to me a part from the crown and the scratched crystal. I'd check caseback and movement as well

So did some of these come without the gold medallion on the caseback?

The photos are blurry, but it has some signs of looking good - sharp edges on the pie-pan dial and clear chamfers and sharp edges on the lugs. Definitely worth a closer look.

Unfortunately those are the best pictures I have. Any thoughts on the gold medallion that supposed to be on the back? Or did not all of them come with a gold medallion?

As others have said, not all Constellations have a gold medallion. Check Google images and you will see.

Re: Omega Constellation Pie Pan Opinions

    G’day.

I would’t buy anything I could’t see the insides of.
That said, one benefit is matching the numbers.
Check the numbers, check all vintage Omega resources, if still in doubt most here are more knowledgeable than me and will be able to help if you can supply most of the jigsaw pieces.

Usually I go about the detective work with the expectation it’ll be too hard and I’ll reach out for expert WUS help but in the thrill of the chase I work it out. I would probably decide against something 90% of the time based on a flaw I can’t ignore from my vintage condition criteria/ expectations.

    Enjoy the hunt mate.

I ended up buying it... I took a bit of a gamble because I couldn’t get the back off with the horrible tool I had when I met with the guy. So, I didn’t get a look at the movement until I got home.

I think I am pretty happy and got a pretty good deal. The watch seems to be running well. I haven’t checked accuracy yet. I believe it is a 1963 based on the 20xxxxxx serial number.

Any suggestions on a strap for it?

I buffed the crystal with some polywatch and it looks a bit better. However, I think I’ll replace it when I send it in to have the crown replaced.

With that watch, just about any fine grain leather with matching coloured stitching would look elegant on it.

I understand the bracelets for these were aftermarket BOR.
