As you all know my first love is Omega, I have built up a fair collection over the last few years but I have for some reason never had an Omega in the classic Dennison Cushion case, that is until now, I got a feeling that I should check out eBay the other day and for the life of me I couldn't see why but then I spotted this little gem, listed on a very low BIN price by a chap who sells loads of tools and stuff, so with 7 watchers I jumped.
So what did I get for my hard earned pennies?
An Omega box, not original to the watch but very cool in its own right
especially when its from Garrard and Co
It has been well loved in the 76 years that have passed since it was purchased
The Gold plate has worn away on the case edges but I look at it this way, if it was worn this much it was a reliable and much loved watch
It's a lovely watch to wear and wears bigger that it's 30mm size, and the dial has aged to perfection
Sellers pic of the great 15 jewel movement
How do I date it to 1939 so precisely?
This great inscription, Greenford Methodist church, Rev J Riach, 1936-39, now what did he do to earn a watch like this for 3 years at the church? I like to think he signed up as a Padre in the army in 1939 and was brought this watch to take with him, but I guess I'll never know.I'm going to try to contact the Greenford Methodist church to see if they can help.
