    Omegamania

I love these models, vintage Omega SM 300 and keep an eye for a good deal, but this one has fetched up to the sky:

    RARE 1966 Omega Seamaster 300 Military 165 024 0552 Watch | eBay

I understand military markings can be also desirable but this was beyond what I've seen so far.

Anybody knows why this watch has reached such a high sales price in comparison with same/similar watches being sold for 2-5k ?

    Re: Omegamania

A zero feedback bidder bumped the price up from 4.2K GBP (which is a pretty fair price) to 7.999 K GBP.

    Seems fishy to me.

From 4200 to 8 grand... We've got a word for that in English. It's called "suspicious". That said, GhentWatch's right.
As to the watch itself, it looks like military-issued divers had a "T" in a circle on the dial, that including both the Seamaster 300 and the Rolex Submariner "Milsub". Frankly, I don't know if all had that, but the ones I've seen did.

And the one who won it only bid once on it. Hmmmm

    Re: Omegamania

Probably he used sniper and was ready for this price
Shill bidding is very esasy to spot, they use several technicues to bump the price, I personally mark such auctions as "hidden" to not see them again and to not support these retards :)

    Re: Omegamania

Im an Omega file from way back and watched these SM300s go from $600 to where they are now. But that price is pretty absurd and as stated the listing is completely suspicious and most likely was an excuse for the seller to get out of the action-for one reason or the other.

So it's just bidding inflation eh, interesting.I thought maybe some people see what I don't know or see - since I am not well educated about Omega, hence this topic.

Let's see maybe the watch will be relisted.

A quick research shows a lot of inconsistencies in these models with parts and movements and replacements. Tricky waters.

The problem is not shill bidding but people that tolerate this and pay money for such sellers :/

    Re: Omegamania

I don't know the seller but his feedback shows decent sales, where this one looks like the sale of his life.

I just thought maybe there is something special with this watch, ok that zero feedback potential buyer raised the price but there is another bid on the top of it from another 150+ feedback buyer.

    Re: Omegamania

From my experience these feedback scores mean nothing

I had issues with two sellers and opened cases. When they ended and ebay screw me up the feedback leaving was out of date and they did not receive bad feedback
It's very good system for sellers. They pay ebay fees so they have lots of space for doing whatever they want and get away with it
