I have found a NOS Fifties gold Ogival chronograph locally. Everything looks good.
Similar to this, attached.
Any opinions on Ogival please? - I had never seen one before.
Sorry it took so long David, been looking for a chrono advert but none yet.
Here is a selection of ads from the 1940's-1970's, to help with dating.
And the factory in 1972.
Thanks Bob for the post. Although there is precious little about Ogival to be found currently, there do seem to be quite a few copies of their ads posted. As they were keen to get fish symbols into their images wherever possible – and often where inappropriate – some of them look a bit comical from a twenty-first century viewpoint, as below for instance, (though that one does look to be rather a nice watch of its era).
Pretty cool looking watch though.
Bobby - My original music! Check me out! Thanks!
Bobbee, do you have any info about the Ogival from the '80s, '90s ...?And the factory in 1972.
At present it is still based in Switzerland (in Biel/Bienne), but owned by a Taiwanese company (and, afaik, as a brand active almost exclusively in Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar). I would like to know if the Ogival was in business without interruption, or perhaps there was a hiatus and the present owner bought only the brand (like it happend with the Ball, and several other Swiss brands).
I have a vintage Ogival....anyone ever see the fish finish to some of their movements? I will get a pic if you have not. I have a soft spot for Ogival watches with no explanation.... FISK!!!!
