    Opinions of this vintage Fortis

Dear friends - I have acquired this vintage Fortis, but am well aware of the fakes out there. If this is a moody one, it's not the end of the world as I didn't pay very much. I took the plunge as it has drilled lugs and I know that is a sign of quality. Having bought quite a few (mostly Rusian) vintage watches I was also persuaded by the less than perfect appearance of case, dial and crystal. I have been able to find a picture of the same model through searching the web, however, and am hoping one of you might be able to throw some light upon this. Apologies for the slight reflection of me and the camera on the crystal!

There is nothing about that looks unoriginal. Modest quality, but genuine.

It's not a Mumbai special. The watch looks to be straight, a well worn case but otherwise quite decent.

Drilled lugs aren't a sign of quality. They could be found on all sort of watches.

Here's a 1953 Fortis ad with a somewhat similar looking model, (aside from being an auto).

Looks like something from the ETA cal 1080 series. If you can read a number under the balance, it sill pin down the specific variant.

Thank you, yes it definitely looks like it.

Under the balance is the ETA badge with 1080 next to it.
