I am new to this forum, so forgive me for any sins I may commit. I am a jeweler and and had a customer come in with a pocket watch that I can find no info on. It is a size 6 hunter case 14k watch with the case being stamped Waltham. The face is marked Otto Zamow as well as the movement. Specifically it its marked Otto Zamow New York with a serial number 3014836. I could find no information on an Otto Zamow pocket watch neither online nor in Tom Engles Complete Price Guide to Watches.I cross referenced the serial number with the pocket watch database as a Waltham movement and it identified the movement as a size 6s Model 1873-6. When I compared the movement diagram to the actual movement it seems like a match. I did find an online reference to an Otto Zamow as a retail jeweler in NYC in the late 1800's which seems to fit the time period. One of my questions is : did Waltham ever manufacture their movements with names other than their own? If not, is this a late 1800's knock off or copy of the Waltham design?
Any insight would be appreciated. I've include a photo of the movement. Not a great pic and wish I had others.
